The Lake City Harmonizers chartered in 1981. It is the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA).
One of the founding members, Bob Thackston, is still a registered member of the Lake City Harmonizers!  In 1980 he had just moved to the Coeur d'Alene area and became a member of the Spokane Chapter, but saw the need for another Chapter in Coeur d'Alene, He and another founding member recruited a director and advertized to get interest. They recruited 25 members to perform their first charter show in 1981, which was a big success.
This crowd-pleasing chorus has a rich 44 year history of singing traditional barbershop music as well as contemporary songs arranged in the barbershop style.  Our singers include men and women from their 20's to over 80 years "young."  Some of the members have been barbershoppers for most of their adult life, and some have just recently found the joy of singing barbershop!
